I need some advice dealing with TRS Recovery Solutions. They are supposedly collecting an old debt for Amazon, and their tactics are getting out of hand.
For the past two weeks, they’ve been calling me nonstop. At first, it was just annoying. But now, they’ve started calling my workplace. I specifically told them during one call that I cannot receive personal calls at work and to stop contacting me there. They ignored me completely and called me again the next day.
The caller is extremely rude and uses intimidating language. They keep threatening to escalate things and say they’ll get a judgment to garnish my wages. From what I understand, they can’t actually garnish wages without suing me and getting a court order first. It feels like empty threats meant to scare me.
I’ve started keeping a log of every call with dates, times, and what was said. I read online that calling a workplace after being told not to is a direct violation of the FDCPA, along with the threats they’re making. This article explains some of the other illegal tactics they use: https://protectionforconsumers.com/stop-trs-recovery-solutions-debt-collection-harassment/
Has anyone here dealt with them calling your job? Did sending a cease-and-desist letter actually work, or do I need to take further steps? I’m thinking of filing a complaint with the CFPB, too. Any guidance would be helpful.
